The proposed private equity fund aims to expand investment ties across five markets, with fundraising and project selection still ahead.
Oman Investment Authority (OIA) is leading a six-institution consortium to establish a $500 million private equity fund targeting Central Asia and the Caucasus, aiming to expand investment opportunities for Omani businesses.
The consortium includes China Investment Corporation, Uzbekistan’s Fund for Reconstruction and Development, Türkiye’s OYAK, the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and Shenwan Hongyuan Securities.
The partners signed a cooperation intent agreement in Beijing on October 20. The fund is expected to be formally established in early November, according to Omani media reports.
The fund will target Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, focusing on logistics, renewable energy, mining, agriculture and healthcare.
Foreign direct investment inflows into the five markets rose 16.6% to approximately $4.64 billion in 2025, according to figures cited by
OIA.
“Companies in Central Asia and the Caucasus need long-term capital to expand their businesses and enter new markets,” said EDB Deputy Chairman Daniyar Imangaliyev. He said the partnership would combine international investment capabilities with the bank’s regional knowledge.
Omani companies, including Asyad Group, Minerals Development Oman and OQ Group, are exploring opportunities in the region. The $500 million is the fund’s target size, not capital already deployed; its commercial impact will depend on attracting investment and selecting viable projects.
