MOPCO Secures IFA Product Steward Excellence Certification

Must read

Egypt’s Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO) has secured the International Fertilizer Association’s IFA Protect & Sustain certification at the Product Steward Excellence level after scoring more than 90% in its assessment, according to the Arab Fertilizer Association.

The assessment was certified by DNV Business Assurance B.V.’s Belgium branch, with the Arab Fertilizer Association saying MOPCO was the first company among those assessed to surpass the 90% threshold.

The IFA framework evaluates product stewardship, quality management, environmental performance, safety and operational practices across fertilizer production and distribution.

Saad Abu El-Maati, Secretary-General of the Arab Fertilizer Association, said the certification demonstrated the ability of Egyptian and Arab fertilizer producers to meet increasingly demanding international quality and sustainability standards.

For MOPCO, the significance extends beyond the certification itself. International fertilizer buyers are placing greater emphasis on traceability, responsible production, environmental performance and independently verified operating standards, making such accreditation increasingly relevant to supplier qualification and export positioning.

The achievement therefore strengthens MOPCO’s international credentials while reinforcing the broader competitiveness of Egypt’s fertilizer industry in global markets where compliance, sustainability and product stewardship are becoming more important commercial considerations.
