Egypt’s $130m Private Equity Fund Targets $80m Investment Drive to Accelerate Business Growth

CAIRO, Egyptian private equity firm Tanmiya Capital Ventures (TCV) plans to invest approximately $80 million in growing businesses over the next two to three years, following the $130 million closing of its second fund, strengthening prospects for industrial expansion, job creation and private-sector investment.

The fund, which exceeded its $120 million fundraising target, was formally announced on 26 October after reaching its final close in June. Its investors include the Egyptian-American Enterprise Fund ($50 million), European Investment Bank (up to $37.5 million), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development ($20 million), International Finance Corporation (up to $20 million) and Egypt’s MSMEDA ($2.5 million).

The investment programme targets six to eight established Egyptian companies across pharmaceuticals, healthcare, fintech, education, consumer goods and logistics, providing growth capital to expand production, strengthen operations and develop new markets.

TCV has already invested in pharmaceutical manufacturer COPAD Pharma and confectionery group El Abd Patisserie. Managing partner Mohamed Mahgoub told EnterpriseAM that approximately $80 million remains available for investment.

The investments could also generate new opportunities for Egypt’s capital markets. COPAD is considering an Egyptian Exchange flotation in the first quarter of 2027, potentially offering 20–30% of its shares, while El Abd is exploring a future listing. Neither transaction has a confirmed timetable.

The fund’s wider economic significance lies in directing long-term international capital towards productive Egyptian businesses. Expansion financing could help manufacturers increase capacity, improve technology, strengthen supply chains and develop export opportunities, while supporting employment and domestic value creation.

The EIB’s participation under the EU’s Global Gateway initiative could further encourage technology transfers, European equipment procurement and cross-border commercial partnerships.

For Egypt, the investment programme represents an opportunity to translate international institutional confidence into measurable private-sector growth, with successful company expansion and eventual stock-market listings helping attract further investment into the economy.
