Cairo will host the third Egyptian edition of the European Day of Languages on September 24, bringing together 18 countries for language learning and cultural exchange.
Organised by the European Union Delegation to Egypt, the event will take place at the Goethe-Institut in Dokki, with more than 50 introductory language lessons, national and cultural-institute stands, interactive activities, live music and performances.
Participation has risen steadily from 11 countries in 2024 and 16 in 2025. This year’s programme includes 16 EU member states alongside Georgia and Türkiye.
A morning programme will be reserved for participating schools before the event opens to the public from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free with advance registration.
The Cairo programme comes ahead of the official European Day of Languages on September 26, established in 2001 to promote multilingualism and language learning.
The event also reflects the wider expansion of EU-Egypt cultural cooperation. The EU says its European-Egyptian Cultural Programme has supported more than 150 projects across 19 Egyptian governorates, extending European cultural engagement well beyond Cairo.
