Mohamed Salah scored a hat-trick and provided an assist as Trabzonspor overwhelmed defending champions Galatasaray 4-0 on Saturday, producing his most productive performance since moving to Türkiye.
Salah opened the scoring in the fourth minute before setting up Noah Saviolo for Trabzonspor’s second in the 39th. The Egyptian added another before half-time and completed his hat-trick in the 80th minute.
The result handed Galatasaray their first Süper Lig defeat of the season and lifted Salah to seven league goals in six appearances.
He also became the first Trabzonspor player to score a home Süper Lig hat-trick against Galatasaray, according to Opta data cited by Turkish media.
The victory gave newly appointed coach Thomas Reis an emphatic start in his first competitive match in charge and strengthened Trabzonspor’s position after an uneven opening to the campaign.
Fabinho, Salah’s former Liverpool teammate and now his colleague at Trabzonspor, said the performance underlined the Egyptian’s capacity to decide major matches.
“Big matches require big players,” Fabinho told beIN Sports.
Reis credited Trabzonspor’s collective structure for creating the spaces Salah exploited against Galatasaray’s defence, while also highlighting the experience brought by Salah and Fabinho.
Former Türkiye international Nihat Kahveci added further praise, describing the Egyptian as “Leo Salah” after a display built around pace, direct running and clinical finishing.
For Salah, the performance extends a fast start following his summer move from Liverpool after nine seasons in England.
His seven goals in six league appearances are also beginning to shift attention away from the circumstances of his Liverpool departure and towards his impact in Türkiye.
For Trabzonspor, the 4-0 win provided the clearest evidence yet that the club’s highest-profile summer signing is already translating reputation into results.
