Egypt seeks Greek partnerships in marine industries and logistics as regional instability continues to weigh on shipping.

ISMAILIA, Egypt — Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has invited Greek companies to expand cooperation in maritime industries and logistics as it seeks to develop new business opportunities beyond canal transit.

SCA Chairman Osama Rabie made the invitation during talks on Monday with Greek Ambassador Nikolaos Papageorgiou, highlighting the authority’s shipyards, industrial facilities and expanding maritime services as potential areas for partnership.

Papageorgiou expressed Greece’s interest in attracting further investment into projects around the canal, while stressing that regional stability remained essential to restoring shipping traffic and safeguarding global supply chains.

The discussions produced no announced investment commitments or contracts.

The initiative comes as Egypt seeks to strengthen the canal’s competitiveness through fleet modernization, industrial development and additional maritime services, while shipping lines gradually restore routes disrupted by regional security risks.
