Telecom Egypt’s WE has signed an agreement with City Edge Developments to provide fibre-based telecom and digital services across three flagship projects in New Alamein, extending the operator’s infrastructure push into Egypt’s fast-growing new urban communities.
Under the agreement, WE will provide Triple Play services — high-speed fibre-optic internet, IPTV and fixed-line telephony — at The Gate Towers, North Edge Towers and Mazarine Compound. The agreement was signed by Telecom Egypt Managing Director and CEO Tamer El Mahdi and City Edge CEO Tamer Nasser.
The move reflects a broader shift in Egypt’s property market, where high-capacity digital connectivity is increasingly being incorporated into residential infrastructure rather than offered as an after-delivery utility. For Telecom Egypt, the partnership also expands the addressable market for its fixed-data business, one of the company’s fastest-growing revenue streams.
Telecom Egypt reported a 26% year-on-year increase in data revenue in the first half of 2026, while its fixed-broadband customer base grew 9%. Group revenue rose 17% to EGP59.2 billion over the period.
City Edge is pursuing a multi-operator approach rather than relying on a single telecom provider across New Alamein. Earlier in August, it signed a separate agreement with Vodafone Egypt to provide Triple Play services at its Downtown New Alamein development.
The WE agreement therefore strengthens the digital infrastructure of several of City Edge’s largest waterfront developments while extending Telecom Egypt’s fibre footprint into higher-value residential communities.
Financial terms, expected subscriber numbers and a timetable for activating services across the three projects were not disclosed.
